Air Source Heat Pumps
Air source heat pumps are a renewable energy source that work by absorbing warmth from the outside air – even when outdoor temperatures hit as low as -25°. This warmth is then used to heat a special refrigerant liquid – similar to the way your fridge and freezer work except in reverse. This liquid is then compressed and converted into a high temperature, high pressure gas. The heat from this gas is then transferred to water in your pipework which heats your home.
Once the heat is taken from the liquid, the process starts all over again!
